In Singapore, there is Stock Exchange Company; it was called Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES). It was founded in December 1, 1999. But, actually the Stock Exchange of Singapore was formed in 1973 while the ceasing of currency interchangeability between Malaysia and Singapore. The ceasing affected the Stock Exchange of Malaysia separated from SES and became Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Bhd. But today, the Stock Exchange of Singapore is not the Singapore stocks exchange market again; it has merged with the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX) on December 1, 1999. And the result of the merger is Singapore Exchange (SGX) which became the biggest stock exchange market in Singapore.
Singapore Exchange in this moment has consisted of 774 companies with a combined market capitalization of S$650 billion. Most of the revenues of Singapore Exchange are from the securities market and derivatives market. And the reason why many companies which joined this Singapore exchange is because this stock exchange market produced revenue for about $165.8 million in the first half of its financial year 2010. So, there are many companies which are listed in the Singapore Exchange. On the other hand, the trading sessions of Singapore exchange are opened from Mondays to Fridays between 9.00am-12.30pm and 2.00pm-5.00pm. In addition, the trading sessions is closed on holidays, especially Singapore public holidays.
