Last winter, I was sipping hot chocolate by the fireplace when I got a concerning text message on my cell phone about a power interruption at the school where I’m responsible for the kitchen. Sure enough, I noticed that there were several more alerts on my phone that I had missed. Panic set-in as I stood to lose all the food being stored in the kitchen. What would I feed the students come Monday?!
I quickly logged into our system from home and my fear was confirmed… turned out that the main circuit breaker had popped and shutdown the power to my coolers and freezers! But, before I could even gather my purse and rush off to the school to try to save the food, my maintenance director Adam called me and told me not to worry. Fortunately, he was on the alert notification distribution list and was able to quickly intervene. He assured me everything was alright and there was no need for me to come down to the school. Adam had reset the circuit breaker and he made sure everything was in proper working condition before he left and he was able to do so before any of the temperatures went into a danger zone.
